Did you know that Congress has permanently extended the IRA charitable rollover?
Everyone over 70 ½ years of age must take a mandatory IRA distribution which could add to your taxable income.  Did you know that you can make a gift directly from your IRA account to help support the mission of Canine Companions for Independence® and benefit as well?
Every year, required minimum distributions (RMDs) must be taken from your IRA, however, charitable gifts of up to $100,000 are not reportable as taxable income. These IRA charitable rollovers are not limited to the end of the calendar year and can be gifted at any time. The rollover will satisfy your RMD and not increase your taxable income.
Your IRA gift to Canine Companions will help give the gift of independence for children, adults and veterans with disabilities through expertly-trained assistance dogs. “I know I can never repay Canine Companions for what they have given me,” says four-time service dog graduate Nancy. “These dogs truly create life-changing experiences.”
Canine Companions provides assistance dogs trained in over 40 commands to enhance independence. Whether it’s retrieving dropped items, alerting to important sounds in the environment, carrying a lunchbox or interrupting post-traumatic nightmares, Canine Companions assistance dogs are changing lives. Every assistance dog, and a lifetime of support, is provided at no cost to the recipient. Thanks to generous donations, including IRA charitable rollovers, we can place more transformative assistance dogs with people like Nancy who have a disability.
